Recipe - Focaccia bread

I make focaccia a few times a week... it is easier than making a normal loaf of bread so easy in fact that Small makes it almost by herself.
(except for the oven bit)

Quick Focaccia bread - Our handmade home

If you use a food processor it will take just a few minutes to prepare.

3 cups Plain Flour
1/2 tsp yeast
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup luke warm water
1/4 cup olive oil
Pinch of dried basil
Pinch of dried oregano
A good few turns from a black pepper grinder.

Stick it all in a bowl and mix to a dough, then turn out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 mins
or
Stick it all in a food processor and let it do the work

My kitchenaid mixer takes 2 mins with the dough hook, in the magimix I pulse it until just past combined plus 3 or 4 seconds

Leave the dough to rise for a minimum of 40 mins.
I leave it on the table, under a bowl... or just in the processor bowl

Later that day...

Pull the dough out of the bowl and stretch it to fit your baking tin or stoneware dish.

Don't roll it or you'll squish out too many air bubbles.

This recipe fills a 30 x20cm dish

Dimple the dough with your fingers

Now drizzle and rub olive oil all over the top and sprinkle on a generous amount of salt.

Pop it in a cold oven and then whack the temperature up to around

220ºC
430ºF

The focaccia will be ready when the top is just going golden brown it takes around 20mins.
Keep an eye on it!

Eat Your Focaccia Fresh!!

with soup, pasta sauce, or just as it is...

Try these on top:

• Rock Salt

• Fresh Basil Leaves

• Grated Cheese

• Olives

• Rosemary

 or

Use it as a pizza base and put on whatever the heck you like.

Top Tip:

I use easy blend yeast sachets,
they have more than 1/2 tsp in them, save the rest in the fridge and they last quite a while

 Enjoy
:)
